Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, gave a speech on deforestation linked to UK supply chains. She urged for more support for Rotherham businesses who are leading the fight in a sustainable future.
Rotherham’s Templeborough Power Station, a biomass plant, sustainably converts waste wood into energy. The 260,000 tonnes of recycled sawdust and wood chippings are provided by local recycling business, Seras. The wood they use would otherwise end up in landfill.

For years, Sarah has passionately campaigned on issues relating to animal welfare. As part of World Day for Laboratory Animals, she is calling on the Government to end unnecessary animal cruelty, by championing research and development that uses animal-free alternatives.

Sarah has tabled an amendment that will cause un-utilised planning permission for landfill sites to lapse should the site be dormant for more than 10 years.
Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, was one of 12 MPs who questioned the Prime Minister in today’s Liaison Committee session. This in her capacity as Chair of the International Development Select Committee.
She grilled the Prime Minister on a range of topics; from refugee costs in the UK, to the effectiveness of taxpayer money spent on overseas aid.
