Sarah Champion, Labour MP for Rotherham has today welcomed the Labour government’s announcement that patients will benefit from over 8.3 million more GP appointments each year as over a thousand doctor’s surgeries receive a bricks and mortar upgrade to modernise practices. 

Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, gave a speech on deforestation linked to UK supply chains. She urged for more support for Rotherham businesses who are leading the fight in a sustainable future.

Rotherham’s Templeborough Power Station, a biomass plant, sustainably converts waste wood into energy. The 260,000 tonnes of recycled sawdust and wood chippings are provided by local recycling business, Seras. The wood they use would otherwise end up in landfill.

Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, urges the Government to prioritise non-animal testing methods, on World Day for Laboratory Animals (24th April).

For years, Sarah has passionately campaigned on issues relating to animal welfare. As part of World Day for Laboratory Animals, she is calling on the Government to end unnecessary animal cruelty, by championing research and development that uses animal-free alternatives.

Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, has tabled an amendment to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill to encourage more allotment and community garden land, as part of the Government’s planning reforms. 

The UK currently has a shortage of allotments, despite high demand. An estimated 90,000 people are on a waiting list.  

She has been working with Mike Farrell, local Rotherham Resident and Chair of the National Allotment Society (NAS), to campaign for the changes.
