Sarah Champion MP Urges Government to Set out Details of Inquiry into Battle of Orgreave

Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, has written to the Government urging them to set out their intentions regarding an inquiry into the events of the Battle of Orgreave.

Questions have been asked for many years about policing at Orgreave during the 1984 – 1985 miners’ strike and Sarah has long campaigned for a public inquiry to be commissioned to uncover the truth.

Sarah Champion MP Urges New Government to Step in to Prevent Reopening of Droppingwell Tip

Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, has written to the new Government urging them to act to prevent the reopening of Droppingwell Tip.

The Environment Agency issued a permit variation in 2016 that permitted tipping to resume at the site, that had been closed in the mid-1990s following a lengthy campaign by local residents. Planning permission, dating from the 1950s, remains in force. Work continues at the site to bring it back into use as landfill.

Sarah Champion MP Calls for Government to Act to Address Regional Inequality in Life-Saving Radiotherapy Treatment

Sarah Champion has called on the Government to urgently act to address significant regional inequality in the delivery of radiotherapy treatment.

Sarah’s intervention follows the publication of data by the UK Radiotherapy Board which shows that an average of 11% of patients across England waited more than 31-days to start radiotherapy treatment, far in excess of the NHS’ target of fewer than 4%. This target has not been met since July 2021.
