Sarah Champion MP launches survey of shoplifting and shop worker abuse in Rotherham
Following increased incidents of shoplifting and concerns over the safety of retail employees in Rotherham, I have launched two surveys of constituents to identify the scale of the problem locally.

Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, has attacked the Government’s failure to extend vital support for people in Rotherham struggling with the Cost-of-Living Crisis.
The Household Support Fund is set to end in March. The Fund, which is worth £4.9m to Rotherham borough this year, has helped to provide free meal vouchers to 12,000 school children entitled to free school meals during the holidays, as well as Council Tax support for low-income families and energy crisis grants provided to more than 2,000 residents.

Sarah Champion MP Statement on Operation Stovewood
The National Crime Agency (NCA) has announced that Operation Stovewood will close to new cases in 2024. The NCA’s investigation into Child Sexual Abuse (CSE) in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013 has, to date, secured 24 convictions, with those convicted having been jailed for more than 255 years. More than 50 active investigations remain ongoing and the NCA will continue to lead on them until their conclusion.
