Sarah Champion MP and Labour Councillors Maggi Clark and Tony Browne have condemned the Conservative Government’s refusal to step in to prevent the reopening of Droppingwell Tip in Rotherham.

Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, has welcomed the Government’s recognition that existing procedures to ensure that victims of crime are properly notified that offenders are being considered for transfer to open conditions or release from prison are failing.

In response to Sarah’s campaigning work, the Government has committed to review a loophole which allows registered sex offenders to change their name without the knowledge of the police.

Sarah Champion has called for immediate action to reduce delays in conducting assessments for children with possible autism and neurodevelopmental disorders in Rotherham. In a letter to Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), which delivers mental health services in Rotherham, Sarah argued that delays “risk an entire generation of Rotherham’s children …being left behind.”

Sarah Champion MP has urged the Government to take action to protect the jobs of Rotherham steel workers following the announcements that safeguards on steel are set to be cut and that Liberty Steel is to seek a buyer for its Speciality Arm, which includes the Narrow Strip Mill in Brinsworth.
