Sarah Champion MP welcomes Great British Energy funding for solar power for two local schools in Rotherham.
Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, has welcomed the news that Great British Energy will be funding solar panels for Redscope Primary School and Thorpe Hesley Primary School in Rotherham.
The programme – which is the first major project for the Labour Government’s publicly owned energy company - will mean less money wasted on energy bills and more resources going back into frontline services.
It’s estimated that the scheme could save schools thousands on their energy bills over their lifetime, showing the difference that clean power can make towards energy security for local communities.
Commenting, Champion said:
“Great British Energy is going to deliver much-needed energy security, alongside investment in public services, easing their financial strains.”
“Roof top solar is exactly what we need to invest more in. I’m delighted two schools in Rotherham are early adopters of the Great British Energy scheme.”
