Sarah Champion leads debate on military detention of Palestinian children by Israeli authorities
Today, I led a debate in Parliament on military detention of Palestinian children by Israeli authorities. At the end of December 2017, 352 Palestinian minors were held in Israeli prisons as security detainees and prisoners.
The intention of calling today’s debate was to support and encourage Israel to meet its international obligations with regards to the rights of children. Israel meets them fully with respect to Israeli citizens, but alas, not so with Palestinian children.
Two years ago, I led a similar debate in parliament.
This is my account from visiting to Ofer military court in the West Bank, in January 2017
