Labour demands Government release extra funding for NHS

I am pleased that Labour used today’s opposition debate to fight for our National Health Service.
Eight years of severe underfunding have left the NHS on the brink of collapse, and left tens of thousands of patients waiting in the back of ambulances and thousands more seeing their surgery cancelled.
Labour has warned repeatedly that the Tories NHS funding squeeze is damaging standards of patient care. That is why we pledged record levels of funding for the NHS in our manifesto and guaranteed the 4 hour A&E target would finally be met again.

The Government must act now to give the NHS the support and resources it urgently needs and to ensure NHS staff and patients never have to suffer a winter crisis like this again.
