Sarah Champion MP pays visit to RotherhamÔÇÖs Accident and Emergency Department
Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, has today paid a visit to the town's Accident and Emergency Department. Sarah spent time shadowing doctors and nurses in the department and spoke to patients as they waited to be seen. Recent figures for A&E departments across the country show that target waiting times were missed every week over the winter. In fact the 2014-15 average nationally will also fall short of the target, the first time ever that the goal has been missed for a whole year.
The aim is for 95% of patients visiting Accident and Emergency to be seen and treated within 4 hours. Figures for the week ending 8th March show that 92.9% of patients at Rotherham Hospital were seen within 4 hours.
