Sarah's Equal Pay Bill demands companies show their commitment to women

Tomorrow, Sarah will bring a Ten Minute Rule Bill to Parliament demanding action from large companies to show their commitment to equal pay for men and women. The proposed Bill asks for mandatory publishing of figures for the pay gap between men and women in any company of over 250 employees. A voluntary agreement is already legislated for under Section 78 of the Equality Act 2010, whereby firms take it upon themselves to reveal the details of pay for employees, but it is not mandatory. The Government has admitted that just five of over 200 companies signed up to the scheme have actually published their figures. Sarah's Bill would take the law a step further to make it compulsory for large employers to publish their figures on the pay gap. To read the full press release, click here
