Sarah elected as new MP for Rotherham

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 @ 12:00AM

Labour leader Ed Miliband came to Rotherham today to give his backing to Sarah Champion.

Sarah and Ed visited Rotherham College’s joinery and brickwork workshops to meet apprentices and employers, before visiting the indoor market to talk with stallholders and members of the public.

Ed Miliband said:

“Sarah Champion will always put Rotherham first, she’ll be a strong voice for this town.

“I know myself as a South Yorkshire MP how hard the Tories are hitting this region, Rotherham needs someone like Sarah to be sticking up for it.

“Today we met apprentices training in brick work and joinery, fantastic opportunities which will give them skills. They’ve been given a chance but┬áI want every young person in Rotherham and across the country to have the same opportunities. Long-term youth unemployment in Rotherham’s soared by nearly 200 percent in the last year. Only Sarah Champion will stand up for those people against Cameron’s out of touch government.”
